Forgive me ahead of time, but...

...can we learn to speak effectively about spiritual and energetic things?
Is it at all possible to articulate your thoughts about it all without sounding like 5 year olds? Can we speak about peace, love, compassion, etc., without appearing to be on acid?
I can agree, I'm a New Yorker, sort of impatient... fine. I can live with that.
But let's GET EDUCATED.
And this is noone I have encountered personally on this network. I just browse and read blog posts, and references in the think tanks. And I apologize if that sounds wrong, or whatever.
But come on. If people are to have small revolutions of awareness and power, and then big changes to come in our governments, countries, we have to sound like educated, trustworthy people!
I have been down many "propper" roads, and thousands of back alleys. I learned how to speak to both sides of the table - even as I, myself, is a fusion of the two. I have an education, have worked on Wall St., traveled to many places, opened my mind in many ways, spoke to God! (woot :) and found that neither side can or should exist on its own.
When I hear someone on and on about the energy and being of life in a way that strikes me as just fluff. My head wants to ask, "ok, do you have a job?"
My mother says "for every teacher, there is a student" - that no matter what you teach, there will be someone with whom that will resonate. I do have acceptance of people.
Bu this is my view:
Draw wisdom from the old ways. Learn what you need to learn in order to feel the innefable connection between yourself, the sunlight and humanity.
But SPEAK like an adult.
Be coherent.
Be informed.
Explain what you mean without going to extremes. Learn what the world knows about science. Speak on a level where you can blow them away. Then your energy information will be strong and will have some meaning.
New Age wont win the world.
We have to fuse and integrate.
Ok, feel free to pelt me with tomatoes now.

Help

Amen to that!
I always wish I could be edjumacating myself faster…because education never ceases to make me a more effective being.

Tomatoes… mmm.
I love this post Katya. I have been interested in spirituality all my life. I was a bit awkward. It took a lot of work to connect with people on the material level and begin to really enjoy maturity on this level. We live on Earth and so we must be able to negotiate within it. We need to speak to people where they are and be beacons instead of anomalies. It’s okay to be different; I don’t want to be afraid of that, but you have to be able to connect with people to reach them. The ability to function on multiple planes is an indication of real wholistic development. I strive to achieve this.
I must say one of the things I love about zaadz is there are so many brilliant and soulful people. It is so hot. I mean let’s look at the integral thinkers, they are intelligent, talented and interested in spiritual enlightenment. Then the other folks, my friends list on zaadz is populated by smart and energetically aware folks. There are a couple of people I don’t know too well yet but I’d say I know 90% are true thinkers.
So, my point is that there are a lot of people out there with big minds and big hearts, so there is room for encouragement. I live in LA, and if there not flakiness here then there’s not flakiness anywhere. But, there are also a lot of audacious educated dreamers.
I completely agree Katya, no tomatoe pelting from me(-:
How to integrate spirituality and politics, that has become my biggest interest as of late and it is truly frustrating to be encountered over and over with people from both sides who refuse to acknowledge or integrate the other. I’ve been planning to blog about that struggle so thanks for bringing it back to my awareness. I think Wilber’s integral philosophy offers the best guide toward this approach where nothing will be left out. Science, mysticism, politics, porno; Its all got its place (okay, some more important than others(-:) how do we frame our approaches integrally and coherently so that we can have a significant impact on shifting the suffering of the world.
Good to hear your voice, righteous indignation is an important gift to offer for the purpose of clarifying compassion.
integration + wisdom + intelligence + articulation + strength + class = magic formula of success
I have to say, I really agree. The more I go on, I feel the need for a grounded understanding of spirituality. I’ve done my fair of levitating, so I would never judge those who are a few inches off the ground, but I think we’re in this plane, so let’s be incarnate. Clarity is crucial - we can easily get lost in esotericism. Or abstraction. Spirituality need not be cotton candy. Or a convenient way to justify our privilege. Or a another form of consumerism…or….
That's a very good blog entry.
But it raises some interesting questions.
People don't intentionally speak and think foolishly - there are always reasons why they make the choices they do, and embrace the culture emblems that they do.
However , it seems to be true, thinking and speaking clearly hasn't often been held up as an ideal among the edge-dwellers.
